 "Best of both worlds!" 2009-09-25
By C. Lindquester
I like that this is a bike rack with a built in bag! The bag disconnects easily so you can take it with you so it does not get stolen. Also it expands to allow you to store a helmet plus it has a divider in case you need to keep things separated. Great investment

 "aweful zipper" 2009-01-09
By Kyle Costlow
Very Sturdy bag, but the zipper is terrible, it already broke on mine, I've had it less than 3 months. Also the bottom plastic plate that works with the topeak rack has cracked in half. Its strange because I have another similar bag from topeak that is doing just fine, and they carry the same stuff.

"Very handy but not too sturdy" 2010-01-04
By Skeptic53 (Seattle, WA USA)
Bought this 8/11/08, it died 12/30/09. The zipper partially failed early on, only one of the two pulls would work. The bag velcros to a loop of heavy wire or rod, which is held together with a tongue that has a spring-loaded button to secure it in a plastic sleeve. The sleeve attaches to the seatpost with a metal bolt. I went over a bump and the bolt pulled through the plastic, and the bag fell off. I had to duct tape the sleeve to the seatpost to get the bag home. The bag had the usual stuff in it: spare tube, patch kit, minipump, multi-tool, tire levers, CO2 cartridge, rain jacket, a couple of energy bars, some bandaids, and the little roll duct tape that got me home. Apparently too much weight for the bolt.

The aero design and ease of on/off are very nice, though. I will probably buy another but never fill it more than half-way. Heavier small items I will carry in a Bento Box or my jersey.

 "DALMAC tested" 2008-12-12
By Jonathan H. Witteveen (Grand Haven, MI)
I bought this for my first 5 day, 350 mile bike trip; The DALMAC. It passed the test and so did I. I liked the fact it had enough room for storage of anything I might need for the day. It also comes with a rain cover, which came in handy. It is easy to take on and off. It is also portable enough to bring with you when you lock up your bike and go into town. I wanted to buy the bigger version, but I am glad I stayed with this one for it's lighter weight. Go Bike Go!!!

 "Remarkable product" 2008-07-26
By Stephen Eckert
This is precisely the product that I was looking for and didn't know it existed. My bike store did not have anything like it. It is very well built and has features that demonstrate the designers understand bike riders' needs. I did have to get a bit creative when I installed the product because my bike seat wasn't really high enough above the back wheel so that the bag would clear the rear wheel. I had to put a wedge into the mounting bracket that would cause the rear of the bag to tilt upward and then I put 1/4 inch dowels on both sides of the bag above the mounting bracket which surrounds the bag. Both of those changes gave me one inch clearance above the rear wheel. There isn't any good way to know ahead of time if you will have this problem because the manufacturer's web site does not provide enough dimensions for you to check your bike ahead of time. I would say that if your seat isn't raised very much, you may have this situation. Be prepared to be creative like I was or accept that you may have to return the bag. If you can get it to fit, it really is a very good product. Had the manufacturer put an adjustment onto the mounting ring, there would not have been this problem. But in spite of it, I really do like the product.

"My apologies to George de Mestral" 2008-07-12
By Khris Richardson (Chicago, IL USA)
The velcro holding the bag to the cage is inadequate and has freed several times during road rides. Still considering returning this product. I would hate to consider using this with a mountain bike on rough terrain. Perhaps I'll modify this thing with some snaps.

"Sleek and light with lots of room" 2008-07-04
By N. Niman (Durham, NH USA)
I own two other Topeak racks with bags and this has become my favorite. I actually owned the original design for this rack made by a different company until I destroyed it by putting too much weight on the rack. You should only use this rack/bag combo if you just want to carry some extra things like a lock, a wallet, lunch, or something like that. Anything heavy or bulky - forget it - go with a regular seatpost rack. The nice thing is that with the push of a button, the rack and bag come off. Then, if I need to carry something heavier, I just attach one of my other racks on the seatpost above the fixer. Alternatively, if I don't want any weight at all, I just leave the very light fixer on the post and then attach a small bag with my pump and patch kit. If you use your bike to do everything and go everywhere, this rack bag is perfect if you want a little more room, but don't want the heavy weight of a postrack and bag.

 "Great for Commuting" 2010-01-29
By S. Beal (Winter Park, FL USA)
Great design and plenty of space. This trunk looks sharp, and it is very functional both on and off the bike. I use the drop-down panniers to store my dress shoes and clothes to commute to work. This leaves the main trunk compartment to carry lunch, or any additional things you need to transport. When the panniers are not needed, they fold up on the side and disappear into the trunks main body.

"Works Great on my TREK" 2009-12-02

A great choice for a bag that is rugged, roomy, & can be carried if you have to leave the bike. We also bought the Topeak rack... necessary to use the clip on feature of the bag.

 "great product" 2009-11-27
By Teri L. Aparicio (Willits, California, US)
We chose the Topeak MTX Trunk Bag DXP because of it's capacity and after reading other reviews. Our local bike

shop carries the Topeak line and the dealer told us he thinks they are the best product on the market! He has

carried this brand for years. We haven't actually used them (we bought two) yet, but will use them for shopping in

town. We also purchased the rain covers for them!

 "MTX trunk bag" 2009-11-02
By Howard Sawallisch (Rochester,MN)
The bag is great! Easy to lock on and off. Lots of compartments for various sized items. Have not had it in any rainy weather yet so not sure how it will perform. I bought a rack at a local bike shop for $45 dollars and was waiting to get the bag because it was $110. Found it @ Amazon for $65. If you are buying I saw the bag, rack, and rain cover combo for around $100 great value.

 "AMAZING BAG" 2009-08-19
By Christopher Mostyn (Missouri)
This is a great bag. I bought this to outfit my bike for commuting. I am a teacher and I can carry my books and a change of clothes plus lunch, a lock and a hat. Works great and stays in place. The only problem I had was that one time, the latch that holds it on the bike let loose and it slid back a little. I use zip ties for extra security now but it works great. I also have the topeak rack for disc brakes and plan on getting the handlebar bag. Fenders will definitely help with the road watter if it is in the rain. I do need to get the rain cover for mine. Buy it, load it, leave the car home!
